Windows NT 4.0 Server Upgrade Guide 38
Figure 14. System compatibility check with errors
As expected, the report returned some errors. First, it is worth noting that the icon with the red X
tells an administrator that Setup cannot continue until the problem is resolved. This error is in line
with the upgrade prerequisites that require SP5 to be installed before upgrading to Windows
Server 2003. The yellow caution icon indicates the Setup can continue, but the highlighted items
could have problems. You can select these errors, and then click the Details button to display
more information similar to the figure below.
Figure 15. Exchange warning detail dialog boxes
The two screens in Figure 15 give conflicting information about the compatibility of Exchange 5.5
with Windows Server 2003. The error on the right is the most important as it reflects the true
status of Exchange 5.5 in Windows Server 2003. Exchange 5.5 and Exchange 2000 are not
supported and do not run after a computer is upgraded. The caution and warning messages must
be read and thoroughly understood.
