AI 490 Connector Kit
The AI 490 connector kit helps researchers adapt amplifiers or transducers to the CyberAmp.
The kit consists of a 15-pin D connector, a circuit board and a connector hood. The circuit board has
a memory chip to provide the standard memory requirements expected of AI 400 series probes. Pads
on the board enable the user to add a small number of components and to connect wires to the power
supplies and inputs.
AI 491 Cable Kit
This kit consists of 12 feet (3.65 m) of eight-conductor, overall shielded, flexible cable. The eight
color-coded conductors are 28 gauge, Teflon insulated. The shield is spiral wrapped. The blue outer
jacket is made from PVC. The outside diameter is 0.15 inch (3.8 mm). The capacitance between
conductors is 15 pF/foot (50 pF/m) and the capacitance to ground from each conductor is 30 pF/foot
(100 pF/m).
Support for Other Transducers
The Fogg System Company provides special-order adapter cables for a large variety of third-party
transducers. These cables connect a transducer to an AI 411 SmartProbe, which should be
reprogrammed to reflect its new use. Contact Fogg System for a catalog of the transducers that are
supported.
Input Connector Color Scheme
Many of the AI 400 series probes use colored 2 mm input jacks. The color scheme is as follows:
Red: Positive input
Black: Negative input
Yellow: Signal ground
Violet: Test
Green Common (isolated ground) on human-safe probes
Handling AI 400 Series SmartProbes
Unless in an unusually high static environment, the CyberAmp need not be turned off when plugging
in a SmartProbe. AI 400 series probes can be safely handled in normal environments. Similarly, the
CyberAmp can be turned on while transducers are plugged into SmartProbes.
